RŌCA
Salon & Spa
was
created by two Vidal Sassoon-trained hair experts, Rod and Rhonda Cavner.
First established as Blondie's in 1976 in a small shop on Main Street, it was an
immediate huge success and was literally the talk of the town. In 1981
Blondie's
relocated to a transitioned house in the now "artsy"
district of 39th Street known as "Restaurant Row" (view map). Rhonda
joined Rod in 1986 and wed two years later. Together they operated the full-service salon until they
took a hiatus to Hawaii in 1999.
Soon, the reality
of life in paradise began to overshadow the fantasy. In 2003 they returned from
Hawaii, bringing fresh, exciting ideas and exotic products and practices with
them. You'll notice their Hawaiian influence from the exotic bamboo flooring to
the pampering Lomi-lomi pedicure. The salon went through a total makeover,
including its focus as well as design; RŌCA
Salon & Spa was born.
The current state-of-the-art urban and modern facility emerged after
the purchase in 2008 of what was originally built as a neighborhood
Safeway in the 1940's. Owner Rhonda spent over three years
planning the design and decor, with the focus on environmental
awareness, leading-edge technology, community outreach, and a facility
like no other in Kansas City.
On Aug. 17, 2011, RŌCA
Salon & Spa had its Grand Opening party, attracting over
500 attendees and raising over $3,500 for a local animal rescue
charity. The new space is over three times as large as the
original salon, boasting 8,300 sq. ft. of salon and spa facilities.
Designed and decorated by owner Rhonda, the feeling is one of being
transcended into a trend-setting salon in NYC or Miami. Her goal
was to bring to Kansas City a salon and spa like it has ever
experienced. This is RŌCA
Salon & Spa, and it is our gift to you. |
